Mesa Engineering Subway Blues Reviews 5

I am 36 year old from Indiana. I have been playing in bands as a second job since age 13 as a drummer, guitarist and bassist. I currently keep busy as a guitarist in a local blues band, as a drummer in a local rock band and as drummer, guitarist and bassist in my church's praise band. I am a fan of great music regardless of the label affixed to it, but some of favoites and influences include SRV,Clapton,Joe Bonamassa,Robben Ford,Hendrix,Pre-Eliminator ZZ Top,Los Lonely Boys,Merle Haggard,Freddie King,Carter Beauford,Robin Trower and about 500 more people that I will not be able to include in the interest of space.

Traded a Peavey Envoy 112 straight up.

I love everything about this amp. It is a tone machine. It breaks up very nicely at relatively low volume. I use this amp in a ton of different situations from practice at home to coffeehouses to clubs. Simple controls that are all very usable. Great reverb that rivals a Twin any day. The Mid control is great because beyond 12 o'clock it acts as an overdrive.

My only complaint has been that is can be a little noisy when you want it to be quiet. It has a few buzzes and hisses that I am having a tough time eliminating, but they are a minor issue with me. In a recording situation it would be much more of a problem. The great thing is that Mesa will do whatever it takes to make you happy. They have the best customer service in the business. I have complete confidence that they will resolve whatever the issue is.

Simple and solid. Very well constructed cabinet with no issues with fit and finish. Very attractive design and layout. Good components.

Great amp for smaller venues. There isn't a better sounding amp for my ear to plug a Strat directly into with no effects and just crank up. It is a beautiful sound. It gives you goosebumps. Why Mesa stopped making this little classic is beyond me.
